Debra Burton specialises in Will Disputes and Contested Estates so I asked her what  she thought of this latest news output surrounding pop star, Prince ...

"After the unexpected death of the iconic singer, Prince last week, his sister has suggested that the famous singer did not leave a will. If this is correct, then his estate will be distributed according to the rules of intestacy. This could lead to his estate not being distributed in accordance with Prince’s wishes and may disappoint family and friends who may have expected to inherit. This could lead to disputes over what should happen to the Purple Rain singer’s vast fortune. As we all know, disputes over the estates of the rich and famous are common place  but can equally affect anyone. To safeguard against this, then everyone should really consider making a will setting out exactly what they want to happen to their estate upon their death.
